Devlog 1: week 3 & 4

Hello everyone! We are Team Copihue, and we're excited to share the progress on our upcoming game, "Dark Lotus." This devlog will dive into the core concepts and mechanics that define our game.

Game Concept Overview

"Dark Lotus" is a metroidvania-style game set in a dark fantasy world. The standout feature of our game is the dual-perspective mechanic, where players can switch between two distinct views of the environment. This shift not only alters how the world looks but also altering the layout, accessibility, and nature of obstacles and enemies.

Mechanic

The key mechanic involves the player's ability to explore two perspectives of the environment, altering the way they navigate. For instance, one perspective might reveal hidden platforms or paths, while the other could expose traps. The choice of perspective isn't just about exploration; it directly impacts gameplay dynamics, enemies might be aggressive or passive based on the current perspective. This adds a strategic layer to gameplay, where players must consider which perspective to use to progress effectively.

Visual and style

The visual and narrative style of the game leans towards dark fantasy. This could be reflected in the art direction, character design, and atmosphere of the game. Expect a world rich in gothic architecture, mystical landscapes, and haunting creatures.

Overall, "Dark Lotus" presents an engaging blend of exploration, puzzle-solving, and strategic combat within a captivating dark fantasy setting. The dual-perspective mechanic introduces a fresh gameplay dynamic, promising players a unique and immersive experience as they journey through this intriguing world.
